1952 K-model shifter rubber

When I bought that aftermarket chrome shift lever I bought this shifter rubbed pedal from the same vendor. The 1952 K-model parts book provides yet another mystery about the shift lever and pedal.

First off it shows that the rubber is held on with a nut, it does not screw directly into the lever. OK, so far, but then it gives a part number 34600-47A for the complete lever.

The lever alone is a 34606-52 and the rubber is a 34609-52. It beats me how you can make a -47 part number out of two -52 parts.		 1952_K-model_shifter_rubber_stud

Here is the stud, the factory manual shows that the threads don't go all the way to the rubber. This one threads into the threaded parts of the lever. The factory lever has the non-threaded hole and you use a nut on the stud.

I guess the narrative is that they made the -47A number in 1952, and what they are trying to tell is is that the assembly made from two -52 parts will retrofit on any bike that used the -47 part.
